Mistico

In the worst kept secret this year, the artist formerly known as Mistico is now officially a member of the WWE roster and is now known as Sin Cara (Faceless) making his debut today at a press conference held by WWE in Mexico City. Jim Ross & Carlos Cabrera were there among other WWE luminaries and when they introduced Sin Cara he came out in a Mistico style mask before taking it off revealing his new look mask which is a blue colored version of his combo mask he wore with Averno last year with some cloth over the eyes. Sin Cara then spoke saying that this is his dream come true and he is honored to be working for the greatest promotion in the world. Sin Cara went on to say that he didn’t know which brand he would end up on or when he would make his exact debut but he is ready when called. WWE.com has quite a few articles on Sin Cara with photos from his days as Mistico and they have setup a Facebook page at facebook.com/wwesincara with a Twitter account coming soon. Clips from this press conference should be airing on WWE TV as early as this week especially on their Spanish versions and I would expect to be on the ones here as well from how heavily they have covered this. They have made a point today to make sure that everyone knows that this was Mistico which personally I think is very important especially in Mexico and regarding the brand he would go to, I would be HIGHLY shocked if he doesn’t end up on Smackdown with Alberto del Rio & Rey Misterio.

The WWE press conference completely took the steam out of the eventful press conference held by EMLL a few hours earlier where they announced their big matches on the horizon but the Mistico story completely took control of the event. EMLL Director Juan Manuel Mar said that the guy who was under the Mistico mask is indeed gone from the promotion but they still owned the gimmick and said that they would eventually put someone back under the hood in the future basically following the Tiger Mask template. The spin control then started as it was said that they were trying to sign Mistico to a new deal for the last two weeks but he would never call them back and they figured out then that he was done with the promotion but they were willing to talk to him again about a contract. This is nonsense as two weeks ago was 11 days after Super Luchas broke the story that Mistico had signed with WWE and 16 days after he actually signed his contract so they supposedly offered him a contract well after he had already signed a deal with WWE. They were trying to save face here showing that they made an actual effort to keep him there but he wouldn’t take their offer and left them high and dry and this could’ve worked as late as about 3-4 years ago but with the fans getting smarter to the inside of the business and magazines breaking big stories puts a big dent in the spin control a promotion tries to do.

Fredo Adds: During the CMLL press conference, Panico referred to talking to Mistico about 3 weeks ago and handed him a contract for him to look at and Mistico mentioned he would get back to them with his decision. When asked by a reporter if they (Panico or CMLL) ever heard back from Mistico, Panico said no and that they waited the last couple of weeks. The media kept asking if the door was still open for Mistico to return (since there are a lot of people who don’t think he’ll succeed in WWE) and Panico along with Jose Luis Feliciano commented that they have plenty of young talent and at the same time they’ve never been against bringing anyone back. Someone else asked if the situation with Mistico was similar to Dos Caras Jr’s (Alberto Del Rio) departure and Panico said it wasn’t because Dos Caras Jr. let the promotion know immediately what his intentions were as soon as he began working out a deal with WWE.

Press Conference interview was uploaded by Dr. Landru and can be seen here:

In other news from this press conference, it was announced that the main event of the Dos Leyendas show on 3/18 would be a double hair match between Brazo de Plata & Maximo against Damian el Terrible & Hijo del Texano then in matches without specific dates there is another hair match between Demus 3:16 & Virus with the loser also going back to the minis division which is probably my favorite stipulation of all-time. Averno will also defend his CMLL Historic Middleweight Title against Mascara Dorada as well with Dorada also getting a mask match against Averno in the future if he wins the match.

Fredo Adds: Demus 3:16 claimed via his facebook page that the winner will also become the leader of Los Cancerberos.

Mr. Niebla returned as was reported a few days ago and during this pageantry La Peste Negra renamed their mascot Perico as Zacarias.

J'espère que Mistico, heu pardon, Sin Cara ne sera pas trop bridé à la WWE. J'ai bien peur qu'on lui dise de ne pas en faire trop pour ne pas faire de l'ombre à Rey Mysterio.
