AAA Mega Heavyweight Champion Dr. Wagner Jr. may not be holding that title no more because he showed up at the big Promociones Gutierrez show in Nuevo Laredo which was affiliated with EMLL in his gear with his AAA title belt and his Heroes del Ring (videogame) title belt walking around ringside during his son’s match then posing in the ring afterwards. Doc stated in the lockerroom though that he was still on good terms with AAA and he just came to see his son wrestle. Doc’s contract with AAA ran out after Triplemania but they obviously had some type of handshake agreement since he got the title on that show but he has been in the background lately due to the Parka feud and the Perros invasion so did he do this to make a point. We will see because AAA Executive Vice President Dorian Roldan was in shock on Twitter last night basically saying in so many words that he thought Wagner left. Doc was announced to participate on the next AAA TV taping at the Lucha Libre Expo today so we will see.

Hilario Vargas Ruiz aka Popiptekus, who was one of my all-time favorites from when I started watching lucha libre in 1989, died yesterday afternoon due to complications from diabetes at the age of 53. El Popi was a favorite of the rudo crowd throughout his prime in the 80’s before turning tecnico later in his career and it was in his prime that he was part of the famous trio Los Cavernicolas with Cromagnon (Hombre Bala) & Cavernicola (Verdugo) where they feuded with the great trios of the day in Los Brazos (Brazo/Oro/Plata), Los Intocables (Jaque Mate/Masakre/Pierroth), & Los Infernales (MS-1/Pirata Morgan/Satanico.) Super Popi also had a year plus long run as the Mexican National Heavyweight Champion taking the title from and losing to Gran Markus Jr. from 1989-90. Super Popi had some notable apuestas matches as well as he was always good for dropping his hair for the check losing to such stars as Egipcio, Scorpio Sr., Pirata Morgan, Mil Mascaras, Fabuloso Blondy (Ken Timbs), Super Muneco, Brazo de Oro, Enrique Vera, & Mascara Sagrada. Descanse en Paz el SUPER POPI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

3. Ephesto/Mephisto/Rey Bucanero beat Mr. Aguila/Charly Manson/Juventud Guerrera by DQ. Mephisto hurt his knee here.
4. La Mascara/Mascara Dorada/Valiente by DQ defeated Dr. Wagner III/Hijo de L.A. Par-K/Scorpio Jr. by DQ when Scorp fouled and unmasked Mascara.
5. Damian el Terrible/Hector Garza/Hijo del Texano beat Jushin Thunder Liger/Shigeo Okumura/Nobuo Yoshihashi
6. Torneo Parejas Suicidas: Mistico & Oriental were eliminated by Atlantis & Olimpico and had to face off in the next match. Order of Elimination: La Sombra & Histeria/Volador Jr. & Alebrije/Averno & Ultimo Guerrero/Atlantis & Olimpico
7. Mascara contra Mascara: Mistico defeated Oriental who unmasked Noe Astro Moreno Leon who is 37 years old with 17 years experience
