NEWSEAW announced today that Latin Lover would be making his debut for the promotion at their next TV taping on 7/18 in Acapulco.

Scorpio aka Rafael Nunez who is the father of Scorpio Jr. and was one of the most famous luchadors in Mexico & Southern California in the 70’s & 80’s died this morning at the age of 67. Scorpio who had the gimmick of being “El Rey Feo” or the ugliest man in the world was one of the few men to actually defeat Canek clean in the ring for the UWA Heavyweight Title on 4/30/85 before losing it back to him on 6/30/85 and was known to be one of the toughest guys in lucha libre being the policeman for the UWA office. Scorp actually made his debut in the United States working in San Antonio on 5/3/68 but he would gain fame working for the UWA where he feuded with all the top stars of the promotion before losing his mask in a tag match with El Condor against Los Villanos I y II on 12/3/75 in Mexico City. Scorp would then take on the “El Rey Feo” gimmick around Mexico & Southern California where he would lose his hair on an almost yearly basis to top stars like Enrique Vera, Perro Aguayo, Dos Caras, Ringo Mendoza, Black Scorpio (2 Cold Scorpio), El Texano, Silver King, & Canek. Scorp would eventually retire in the late 90’s taking a position as being a notable member of the Distrito Federal Box y Lucha Commission where he would be seen ringside almost weekly at Arena Mexico and getting involved with angles at times.
